So I go out this evening with my buddy to the same spot I went to yesterday where I found the duck in the river. I'm pumped and ready to go, flip on my detector and it's just wiggin out, sounds and warbles all over the place. Thought it might be something with the particular area I was in and started walking down the road-- no change.
I had the coil in the river yesterday which is suppose to be completely submersible and which I've done at the beach dozens of times with no problem. I even hunted for an hour last night after having it in the water. Go to turn it on today though and it's freakin out. Got home, changed out coil and it's fine. I usually always take a spare coil with me but in my haste to beat the sun going down I forgot it. So, lesson learned. I'll never be without a spare in the car again.
