Has anyone run into any problems testing gold, silver, or platinum through any type of protective coating. I've heard some silver has this type of coating to protect against oxidation. I have also heard some polishing cloths/products leave a protective coating when you polish with them. Do these coatings prevent or inhibit precious metal testing? How have you removed said coatings to get a good test?
