Deciding to sell a collection and how would you do it.

I did not know where to post this, but I am wondering if anyone knows the best way to
liquidate a substantial collection of items dug over the last 20 years, and to get the best
price, when trying to cash out.

I know piece by piece you might get more, but this is too extensive for that.

    Lots of coins, (old)
    lots of military buttons etc.
lots of relics that are in a lock box.

    any help is nice.

    Lets start with the coins.
Can you show provide pics of each, front/back and are any professionally graded?

Yes and no, I have in fact scanned a great many and have done some photo albums with some, but not all...
If I scanned 40 indian heads they all look alike...

Consider the picture to the Left, this is a scan of a Spanish Military button dug in Spain, but very similar to buttons dug in Florida.

None are professionally graded, that said, a long time ago I considered this, but when a grading service
charges an extensive amount per coin, then doing 100 coins would really be cost prohibitive.

A lot of what I have are ancient coins from when I lived in Spain.
Some silver Denarious and some Roman AS and Sexstertius type coins.
Also many early Spanish Coins including 2 or 3 / 8 reals and 5-6 / 2 Real coins along with Many early
copper Spanish coins, and some early Aribic coins.
Also some early American coins, like 3 different Flying Eagle Cents.
    or a Bust Half Dime.
But years ago when I use to dig more Indian heads, well you don't want to try to get 40 Indian head
    pennies graded.

I don't know... It's what I have accumulated over 30 years of detecting

Hi! Torrero, I have been trying to sell my collections also and it's pretty hard. My coins have all been graded but buyers only want certain ones so it's been tough and I've been asking a lot less than what I have in them.
Times are tough and that dictates what you get for your coins.
I wish I had good answers for you but I don't and I need the money from my sales to bolster the income I've lost in the past couple of years and things don't look any better.

    Torrero,
My belief is if you attempted to sell the entire collection as one unit, you'd get only wholesalers and others looking for a deep discount. Maybe none would be interested in your entire collection since it is so varied. Short of selling the enitre collection as one unit, you might consider selling in lots--like the 8 reales, then the two reales then the Spanish coppers.
Would you consider posting a list of your collection (or any part thereof) by country, type, date and mint mark so that we could get a better idea of your challenge?

I would do what Don said if you want some real answers.

Heck, if I thought I could turn a profit after seeing what you have, I would be interested. So feel free to PM me if you have a list and approximate value of what you have.
