My library threw away the microfilm Sanborn map collection??!!!

They are renovating the main branch in town, so I called another branch that is the temporary main branch. I was going to go in and get some hard copies of some maps and she told me that during the move they threw away a bunch of microfilm and she believed the Sanborn collection was one of them. She went check and sure enough they are gone! Are you kidding me?!

Is it common for libraries to just throw away microfilm collections? This just doesn't make since to me...

That sucks. I'd love to have them too. I found a site online that sells them for 2 bucks a pop for e-mailable versions. www.oldusmaps.com
