According to the specifications listed toward the end of the manual, yes. But the ad doesn't list it.

The silver uMax requires motion to work. There is no non-motion mode. There is an all metal mode. But it does not work the same way as many other all metal modes work. It simply turns off the discrimination capability. In all metal mode it is quiet until you pass the coil over a target.

Making it stand still is very bad, and won't do anything for you. If you are thinking it will pinpoint your target, it won't. You need to keep that coil moving.
