Re: Status of TreasureNet.com
And Monty thought he was the last one to know about this, welcome John & Doug.
I've been here for only a couple of years though at times it seems like a few weeks and it has been a pleasure each time I log on to see what new things have been found and/or are being discussed. Then there are some long running threads that are just awesome! And then the members started pitching in with info for me on one of my posts and shoot I was hooked. And boy did they ever help ME!! So now I just try to help others and give back some of the gracious help that was given to me. So John & Doug this is the general type of place you now have and it is filled with lots of good folks.
We all hope you have fun as well...........63bkpkr

One small request: lower the standard for entry into the chatroom.
Tnet is wonderful. As far as "copyrighted " material, can I post it if I wrote it and included it in a book?
I do give myself permission, but since it is copyrighted and posted it should not be reproduced without the authors permission. If I find any of my exact versions of stories published elsewhere, like in magazines I would be mad. Of course nobody owns a story. As a storyteller one has to realize that you only own your "version" of a story.
Been mad myself over this. seen parts of My videos on TV,, someone got paid, and it wasent me. I share for free, But Not to make others money.

Welcome and greetings!
The changover appears seamless.
one issue, banner finds take a long time to show as links under the finders avatar.
This is an important issue, it leads newcomers to past banner finds and strikes interest to those new to MDing, who are just browsing the site.
Great Site! congrats on your aquistion & best wishes, Herbie.

The vendors are still around. We need to integrate them into the new skin and we have some plans to make our vendors even happier. Should be ready in the next couple of days!

Greetings John and Doug, Welcome. This is really different now, but it's going to be good, I believe. It looks nice. It's a little confusing
in places, but I will catch on. I never had anything to do with a computer until I joined TNet, so I don't know alot about it. I had kind
of a hard time getting back on here today after the change, but with my wife's help, we finally got it done. LOL. I have been on here
about 2 or 3 hours now and have been exploring the different areas. There are some of the changes that I haven't figured out yet, but I'm
learning. I'll give it a few days, then if I haven't learned what I need to know, I'll ask for some help.
I think this is going to turn out great. So far I like what I've seen and figured out.
Wishing you guys all the best.

Is it just my eyes, or is the thread starter, and nominate banner in orange very hard to read. I actually had to put my face 6" from my screen and basically guess to what the nominate banner link said. My eyes aren't great but I didn't think that bad.

I've updated the colors of the banner images so they are a bit easier to read and stand out a bit more. One thing I thought might be a good idea is to make the image only show up on the first post of a thread since banner submissions are usually their own threads. Thoughts anyone?

I know I'm slow, but I can't find nothing on this new site.Where's the state by state treasure stories? Can't click on my state anymore and find treasure tales.I'll hang in there,I'm still learning. The new owners seem to be trying to make things better, just have to give them time to work out the bugs, and for me to get used to the new.Wish them all the luck in the world.Hope it remains the great site its always been.

Hi John,
Site is starting to take shape and all, but what I think I am having trouble seeing of the "Nominate" button is the size more so than the color.
Any way to enlarge it some what to be more visible? It doesn't really pop-out if you know what I mean.

 I deal in reality
John, there's a big problem here. Posts are vanishing, Some never show after you hit post quick reply. I will give you an example I posted post # 602 in THE OFFER . It never showed up in the post, but it is listed as posted under the lists of posts under my name Frankn. Nothing gets a member more that typing a post and having it vanish and it is happening more and more. Frank
PS The post came back and is now posted. Is there a never, never land in this forum?

Frank, I checked post #602, that belonged to someone else, but I see post #603, 605 & 606 as yours.

Check the place where you click on the name and read the persons posts. That is where it was listed as 602. Of course the post #s change if anything is deleated. It's as bad as when the page #s change according to how your page length is set up.

Hey john,
Quick question. wanted to see if you could explain how the banner finds are decided. Are they based on votes only? Or is it up to the moderators to choose.

While we don't have any firm criteria, we follow these general guidelines...
- Finds must be significant, and plausible.
- Finds / posts must be RECENT.
- Images must be hosted on the TreasureNet server.
- Posts with great stories are more likely to be selected.
- If the post is one of the members first posts, it is less likely to be selected.
- It helps if 20 members don't have you on ignore!
- Finds must look good in the banner.
Everything you see on the banner was nominated for banner. New Adm had added a few up there, but they were based on the amount of nominated reports we received. This is nominated reports, not typing in a reply stating "banner". There can be 15 replies stating "banner find", but if we receive no report, well it won't make it. Also, it don't help one bit if an individual nominates his own find, then gripes in their posts why their find is not banner worthy. The find has to be found by YOU the TNet member, not the spouse/child/neighbor/best friend.
