Questions about Tesoro Compadre, Also, Is anyone in or near Fort Myers, FL
Hi
I'm new to detecting and my new Compadre. Does anyone know if the Compadre will work well on the sand in SW FL beaches. I'm looking for gold rings, bracelets and all coins. Also looking for possible detecting buddy or local club.
Thank you,
Sue

Life is just a chowl of berry's..........
Dry sand on any beach should not cause a problem at all. Wet sand might cause you a problem as it will cause false signals of targets and decrease your depth. HH Sue...

He is right. I have a Compadre that i have carried to Orange Beach Alabama on 2 trips. I used it to night hunt the beaches by moonlight. Much more comfortable than the beating sun. It is really stable in the dry sand but in the wet sand you might as well give it up. I still cant help but feel that i was missing a lot of stuff though. The compadre depth is about 5 to 6 inches at best and i think lost items get deep really quickly in the soft sand. I ended up with a few coins and a small silver ring and a cell phone in the dry sand. The small coil make it take forever to cover a large area. I have a fisher f5 on the way that i bought this week to try in the wet sand during my next beach trip in September. I cant part with my Compadre though.
