I went back to the park today....(see my post about where are the pull tabs).

The last time I was there I had 2 firsts, a buffalo nickel and a mercury dime.

This time it was my first gold ring (10 carat), my first indian head penny 1901 and a V nickel !
This was in a 2 hour hunt.

Here are the photos but they did not turn out too well. Any suggestions for
cleaning up the v nickel? It is a 1905.

These certainly made my day!

Tom

Congrats on the nice finds Tom.
Yeah ,that ring is a beaut. That nickel looks a lil toasty from what I can see in the pic.I have had some luck with cleaning up a shield nickel using boiling peroxide. It did knock most of the crud off then I soaked it in olive oil for a few days, wiped it off and it came out not bad at all.But note that It looks like my nick was in better shape then what yours looks to be.If you do use boiling peroxide, heat it in a microwave till it starts to boil, take out then drop the coin in and it will start to suds up and let it go till it cools off.DO NOT BREATH THE PEROXIDE VAPORS.or so I was told and I'm not looking to test that theory either.
Good luck with it all........................................
