dog tax tag

I found a 1927 Kentucky dog tax tag yesterday. Never knew of such a thing. Tried to find out some info. on it, no luck yet. Any help? Thanks.

It's a dog license. Not much more to it.

Yes, a dog license is pretty much all it is. Me and a friend found two or three of them a few years ago. Neat finds, but not worth much, as far as I know.

Awsome find Wayland there are Collectors out there

& some of the early ones have nice Shapes & Designs on them.

& Do have value.

I'd enjoy seeing Pics.

Some states were issuing them in the 1800's already & were originally called Taxes.

my guess like many things, till
people complained they were paying too many taxes.
so the powers that be promised to remove the tax.
waited a short time then started the dog "License"

Looks like it may have broken of the dogs Collar.

it is also possible when they changed it to "License" they also changed it to a County License
and charged License fee and state sales tax

Maybe one day you can find one of each year since they started
