To Null or not to Null

When operating your MD do you null the sound or just let it talk very softly. I like to here a low tone as that lets me know the machine is still working in between hits. I am sure everybody has there own way of tuning apart from instructions.

I use a Faint Tone.

I would be afraid of Missing Whispers.

Yep, me too, faint tone. I'm sure it wears the batteries out a little bit faster and I get tired of the hum after a couple hours, but I like it better than no tone at all.
