My wife and I joined another couple for dinner this evening and the conversation turned to our weekend activities. I told them that I went to Andersonville, Ga. with two friends Saturday for a day of metal detecting. Unfortunately, I, nor either of my buds had any luck. The best find was part of a harmonica reed.
Well, the wife of the couple we were with said that they used to walk out on their farm after the ground was plowed and pick up cannon balls and, as she put it "those pointy things on the end of the gun that you stick people with!"
I was speechless for a few seconds before saying "do you mean bayonets?" To which she replied "yes."
Y'all know what my next question was. They no longer own the land and when it sold it was split into parcels.
But, they do know some of the owners and promised to contact them about letting me hunt. Whether it comes to pass or not time will tell.
At least I have something to dream about for the New Year.

Happy New Year and Good Providence to all!!

That only proves that sometimes a metal detector is always the right tool :tongue3:

I hope you get a chance to hunt some of those parcels, and good luck
