:hello2: I would like to find a good geology book. I have tons of good fossil books. But I would like to learn more about geology and identification of rocks/minerals/gems. Texas is where I basically look. I do not use a metal detector (as of yet). Any recommendations would be appreciated if you know of a good one!:icon_thumright:

It's" Roadside guide to geology" for me. There are several for different states. Don't know if there is one for TX, but if there is I bet it's the biggest. Am looking forward to seeing what books are posted so I can add to my collection too.

I ended up ordering "Collecting Rocks, Gems, and Minerals" by Patti Polk. There were quite a few to choose from on Amazon and it let you sample them - I really liked this one!

Ordered Roadside Geology today :) Loved the other book too though. Had guess-timated worth etc, pretty good pics - but most of them were shined up and not showing what some look like in the raw. I liked reading her intro!
