Had a bad day .But trying to stay positive

Other than the weather today was one of those days that started badly & has pretty much stayed that way . I had gotten permission back in the fall to hunt a home site built in the 1940s or ealry 50s ,but as luck would have it I left my relic planner at home with all my contact numbers in it ,so I could not get in touch with the land owner[ the home is to be torn down]-Mold or something. Its in a nice N. Atl neighborhood w/2+ acre lots.1st my wife who hates MD calls and complains for half an hour about what ever , then as I normally do I go by the neighbors homes to let them know what im doing 1st home ok, 2ed the lady of the house says cool " ill tell my hubby when he returns. Well im suited up ready to go & this guy walks over and ask me if I have Id ,I say yes show him , I figure he just to see / hell i dont know what he wanted , he then comments you come a long way huh ,I say a 20 min drive is not far then he says since its Sunday maybe I should come back tormorrow becaouse hes watching the home and has had a prob with homeless people and he fears for his family. The nearest section of town with homes priced under 500,000 is 5 miles away ? what homeless people & what does that have to do with me? .I was nice and left & had a wonderful time digging trash for the next 3 hrs /Theres more to the story , but my wife is yelling at my AGAIN JUST HAD TO RANT ,IT JUST ILLS ME WHY I SHOWED THIS GUY MY ID IF HE WAS GOING TO TELL ME TO LEAVE ANYWAY .WHAT AN A%$ HOLE. p.s. Does any one elese,s spouse dispise your hobby.

My wife hated it when I went to the casino. Never said anything but I could tell that she was not happy when I went. At the time I could spend hours with a little bit of money, just a little me time. How I long for the days to get that "don't be gone all day" look. Of course I always helped her and supported her hobby no matter what they were. Very nice trade off. I also could spend hours Metal Detecting, come home and she would say with excitement, "what did you find" and I would show her and she would laugh.

Two ex wives. Girl friend does not get a vote. Really does not complain (wow,i just realised something she lets alone!) But hey,i,m not sitting on a barstool or chasing skirts. Its not a crime to have a legal hobby.

My wife doesn't like a few of my hobbies. I tell her the option is that I go to the bar and hang around loose women or waste our savings on gambling.

She tolerates my hobbies after that.

As a side note, NEVER show your ID to anybody. Asking for trouble. Also, never tell the neighbors what you are doing. If you have landowner permission, go do your thing. If a neighbor approaches, tell them to call the owner or the cops, their choice. Have the owners name/number and offer it up to the neighbors who are nosy.

I do not much care for nosey neighbors. Thing is you were being nice and doing the right thing. Keep that list with you and just get out and detect next time. He bothers you tell him you have permission and the owner told you to also keep people off the property. Grrr I feel your pain.Hang in there it gets better.

The only person I'm showing my ID to is an 'identified' cop who has reason to believe I've done something wrong.
Out of courtesy, you notified the neighbors that your were not a dirtbag looking for trouble.
I would have ignored the fellow asking for your ID, you should have asked for his.OMOYMV

Sounds very familiar the "dont be gone all day " part at least It seems that sometimes she supports my hobby but mostly not I would support hers but she dose not have any other than the phone and computer games. About 1 in 10 times she asks if ive found anything. I know it could be worse ,w,our 10th ann in april weve been through alot + our only son will turn 5 on March 17, Im used to the nagging by now just that coupled with the NOSY neighbor put my bad day over the edge . Im just quessing that you are no longer with your wife .I pray she is OK and if not she is in a better place and Always remember those good times, any way feeling somewhat better today thanks for the reply

Feeling better today , thanks to every one for the replys ,It helps to see that others know how I feel .Our 10th ann will be in April & Our son will turn 5 on the 17th of March ,so Im used to all the complaining " mostly".we argue way too much about dumb stuff when we have a gentleman to raise .We will be ok and as to the nosy neighbor & why I showed him my Id ,I was trying to be friendly .and thats what angered me in hind sight if he was going to ask me to leave anyway .As was said I should not have forgotten my note book ,If Id had it I would have had a better defense. Oh well things could be worse.I wish everyone a Great week w/ lots of luck. Davers.....

I've got a great wife, we go out and sit for hours digging in the dirt. She even brings me beer when I'm out running dirt through the highbanker. Just bought a new GMT and she uses the classic III. Either that or we are riding our motorcycles. Find a common denominator, maybe see can just go and make you lunch. Heck if she's cute the guys won't run you off...

You dont have to show your ID to anybody,including the cops,if they ask you for it unless youre under suspicion for a crime.

I agree with Red, never show Id....especially to a neighbor.
