Received a phone call and a follow up email from OFallon, MO city councilman Jim
Pepper. He will be asking for a full repeal of the metal detecting ordinance.
This will take place at the council meeting tonight, Thursday April 25th.
The meeting starts at 7:30pm and it will be televised at this internet link:

Councilman Pepper believes this ordinance is not only improper but hastily done and
poorly worded. He also sees no reason for this ordinance. His intention is to repeal
it and then talk about some reasonable measures to protect historic sites and to
take action against anyone who is not following the rules and doing actual damage to
the park property. Not to outlaw the whole hobby due to the actions of one or two.
He also said that he has never seen or heard of any damage done to the parks or any
problems of any kind with metal detecting in the parks.
If you are available then watch the meeting. Mr. Pepper is very vocal and speaks his
mind. It should prove very interesting.
