I believe this has been a good thread!

I have found live rounds several times while metal detecting. This is no problem to me, I've reloaded for over 30 years.

If you do find a round, don't leave it around for the kids to play with. If you know a reloader give it to them. You can also call a gun shop and ask for someone who reloads.

Be safe!

Don't worry:) I'm gonna show it to my Dad. He's a Vietnam war veteran , an avid hunter since boyhood, a reloader, and safety nut. Wether it's A safety hazard or not , considering its size ... If it still has powder he wont give me a choice , he'll take it.
In the meantime back in the trunk it goes. I have no plans on shooting it ( why would I ever dream of doing that ?. Last time I checked all the mammoths were extinct) and I promise not to take a Phillips head and a mallet to it. Lol. Thanks everybody!!

I'm curious what your dad said.after all he would have it in his hand and all anyone else can do is surmise from a photo.Your dad has your interest at heart and would surely give you the best advice.

But, where is your sense of adventure!?:laughing7:

When I was a kid, I would put shotgun shells(live) on the end of my bb gun and hold it above my head and pull the trigger!
I can tell you for a fact.. then they will go off!

Many people like to give advice and don't have a clue what they're telling. If I tell ya something.. you can take it to the bank!

oh.. I already drink... some.

.....not sure about all of that!

ok..here we go again...
the round will weigh 5 to 6 ounces...put it on a scale...if it is heavy, it is filled with lead.

or, being the calvin type personality I am...put the round on a fire, take the pets an children on a run down the block...if you hear a noise..it was live...:icon_scratch:
