Platinum Wedding Ring in Landfill!!!

I am *almost positive I threw my platinum wedding rings into the trash. It took me weeks to realize it was missing (I don't wear it to work). Is there a detector powerful/sensitive/specific enough to aid in the seemingly impossible task of finding it? It may work in my favor that the band is very thick and wide, unlike a traditional wedding ring.

Everyone says "just buy new rings". This ring was designed by my husband and custom made by hand, not to mention it contains diamonds gifted to us by both of our parents. It is irreplaceable and I am heartbroken.

Nothing is impossible, But there is a line that you never want to cross to accomplish a task. I think this is on the other side of the line.

The problem is not finding the ring, but rather finding EVERYTHING else first. If you started looking today, you could quite possibly die of old age before you found it. Just my thoughts on it. Frank...

You said that you threw my platinum wedding rings into the trash... I can only assume the trash company picked it up? If they did - I don't care what you have - to go to a dump and start swinging a billion dollar metal detector...well, you see what I mean. Sorry for your loss.

Landfill sites fill up quick with garbage so time is of the essence!
If you're living in a heavy populated area then you can forget about even trying.
If not a big population then you could go to the landfill and ask where they dumped the load from the day you lost the rings and try to locate your garbage bag.
Detecting a landfill would be a nightmare!
The sooner the better.

Yes, a waste management company picks up our trash along with undoubtedly hundreds of other peoples'. On an intellectual level I know the notion of finding them is ridiculous, BUT, well.... desperate men do desperate things.

I've been told more than a few times that I don't know when to stop. I just can't believe they are gone and there is nothing else I can do!

First off you have to get lucky & Convince the landfill to dig it back up.
These days they have to cover everything before going home for the night.
second You have to convince them If you catch some imagined disease the
Enviro-goons have invented to scare people into recycling. you won't sue.
Third you have to get luck there is no Metal near the area other then your Ring.
Then Bingo ! Should be a snap.

only other option If you are considered a Minority , & contact the News papers,
they may do a story that will convince the landfill it is to their advantage to
find it for you, and at the same time every bleeding heart
who wants to look tolerant, will send you checks to buy a new one

Sorry for the loss but I think your only chance is that you were mistaken about the ring going into the trash.

We had a guy disappear from the area a couple months ago, the police say he overdosed so his "friend" threw him in a dumpster which was taken to the landfill. They say there is no way they can find his body now so that is where he will stay. Unfortunately your ring is gone forever if it is in a landfill.

Ohh crazyace, same thing here in S Fl.
A couple killed a nice hearted lady that was helping them out, they threw her in a dumpster.
The dumpster got picked up and thrown in the trash by the truck. They've never found her, even a week or two after it happened, they ain't even trying anymore. They gave up quick, too.

Sorry samh, bout the rings, welcome though! Depending on how long ago it was, I'd probably be showing up at the dump with pizzas and home made pie!
