I dig all types of buckles [ no CW types yet] most later period types from the collars lost by dogs & ca ts all the way to leather belts with buckles still attached ,likely lost or dumped very recently. I suppose my question is there a book or an easy way to id the older types cir, late 1800s- 1950s ; many types I have found are the all iron style ,witch I'd guess are next to impossible to date unless dug at a CW camp or maybe a ranch setting. I'm mainly interested in the types that are all Brass or [what ill call the frame is brass but the "tung "] [the strait piece is made of iron] that most of the time is rusted away. I'm pretty sure they are not worth much , just wondering about their dates of use & what they were originally a part of . Thanks for any help. Maybe I or someone should start a "buckle type album" to compare. Thx again Davers...........
