The $40 permit is for all Long Island State Parks, including Jones and Robert Moses. Considering the MILLIONS of folks that visit these parks and beaches every year, most of us consider it a bargain.

I live on Long Island and don't mind paying the 40 bucks. It pays for itself and you don't have to worry about parking.
