I have been doing some reading about a lake that once covered the area where I live. It is called Lake Bonneville and covered some 40,000 square miles by some estimates. Maximum depth was aprox. 1000 feet. I saw a statement that may be of interest and that was evidence suggests that this lake evaporated and reformed at least 28 times. Along the mountainsides the ancient shorelines can still be clearly seen at several levels.
