Hi All...I hope I am placing this in the right area.....I went searching the bush the other day around an old WW2 US base... and found the old mess area... I thought I would share the finds with you all....
thanx for posting! I always wondered if there weren't silver coins-to-be-found at the various US bases that popped up in remote places during WWII. I was working for a month or so at one of our bases in the Aleutian Islands, back in about 1981. Although the base was only operative for a few short years, yet old barracks, a ball-diamond, etc.... were all still there, crumbling away. I drooled thinking there's got to be a few silver coins, from those few short years (but I didn't have my detector) Your post made me think of that
Yes, silver dollars still remained in circulation even up into the 1940s.
