I lost my class ring down the toilet--well its gone now! But a buddy of mine said
well not really!Youre on a septic tank aren't you? Ya! its in your sepic tank!We found the cover and lifted it.God the smell was awhful! I put a rod down there it was about
three feet deep and six feet long.So I got a five gallon bucket and bailed it out as best I could.By this time my girlfriend and buddie were laughing there heads off!But I put three trash bags around my metal detector and got four hits.An old shower drain cover
a few coins and my ring!A septic tank can be any size and vary deep! but I never thought of looking in old sepic tanks to houses( but if you can stand the smell and know
how deep and wide) And a great hiding place for all those gold bars I got! LOL
oh by the way gold rings sink to the bottom the leach line is a few feet higher in the tank.

Well I'll be. I finally found something that is worse than the drudgery I do now as an accountant for income. I'd rather sit here and eventually buy gold at the jewelers than find it that way. ;D

A friend and myself once dug out a disused sewer that ran into the river Tees in the UK, we had dozens of finds of silver rings jewelry & coins and this was before I had a metal detector, old sewers can be a good source of finds but beware the usual finds in these places :-X

Good to see you go it back!
Your lucky your tank is only 3 feet-we used to have one that was closer to 3 metres deep!
Was a BIG tank!

Alls well that ends well-I just wouldn't be eating with your ring hand for a while!

Have fun,

That is some story. I am glad that you found your ring though. I would have left it there, but it had to mean a lot to you.

Glad you found it. And lucky for you your septic was made of plastic, as most new ones today are. If made of metal, then the disc. mode really helped. Mine is made of metal and the detector might not have worked, even at the disc. mode. Hopefully I won't have to find out. Sounds like a pretty s#@!$%#@!ty job.
