One thing that may be a consideration in these two, or any other detectors is weight. I know the Garrett is one of the heavier ones, not sure about the TC3, but a pound or so can make a big difference if you are swinging all day.

That's a huge difference in machines!? The GTI 2500 is a proven machine and was Garrett's flagship detector for a decade. It's still a great machine. Only detector ever to have true size imagining.
The new TC3X is new and based on a TV show!? Will you really need camo and GPS? Spray paint your cell phone w camo, it already has GPS. ;) If you are set on one or the other, buy the 2500. If not, do your research, read the forums, watch vids etc., before you buy. Most importantly, realize where and what type of hunting you will do!
It doesn't take $1000 bucks these days to get a powerful and accurate machine.
