[h=2]Property ownership****[/h]
Well, you think you have worked hard and now own a nice piece of property. So did Bundy ,until the Red river changed course. Now the BLM is claiming a large chunk of it. They are going after the rest of it with liens. You say this couldn't happen to you. Think again! Just get in a position where you can't pay the property tax. They can sell your land, in most states, but not all. There should be a law that protects your ownership of property unless you sell it. They can't lock you up for money you can't pay. We have laws that have eliminated debtors prison. Why can't we have laws to assure our property is secure? Just a thought, Frank...

Why cant we have laws to assure our property is secure?

Well my philosophy on that argument is fairly simple. All land is owned by the government, be it the state or the federal, and as such you are only entitled to rent said land till the day you die.

You bought the land, not from the government, and paid it off yet you must still pay the rent *property taxes* because as stated you did not buy it from the government. To have purchased said land from the government you would in effect have Sovereignty of such land from said government. And this is never going to happen. Even the Indians with their Treaties with said governments, state and fed, are not truly Sovereign.

It benefits the government to have its peoples pay for said land. Taxes, liens and other instruments of law and finance can and will be used to deny every individual or group ownership of all land everywhere.

The laws are set in such a fashion as to prevent the creation of Dynasties... this is why our government supports the Estate Tax, or Death Tax... How does this relate to land ownership? Example and individual in Texas who's family has owned thousands of acre's of ranch land for generations *much like the Bundy's* died. He left the land to his children just as it was left to him. The Death Tax steps in and tells the kids they now owe the government XXX amount of dollars to retain the privilege of paying the rent on the property. Where did these kids suddenly inherit XXX amount of dollars? They didn't. The Government thru the IRS Laws made up an imaginary number based on perceived value of the property had it ever been sold. The inheritance according to the Estate Tax is looked at as a sell from the deceased to the living inheritors.

Now I'm putting two odd birds together with this argument and I wont say I am accurate about the points I'm making. These are generalities with some truth to them.
We, as a people, will never Own our Land because we will never have rules crafted to grant us Sovereignty over said land and anti-dynastic laws such as the Estate Tax allow the government to forever deny us security for our inheritors to such land because the government will always want the rent.

I agree taxes are too high and complex.

But, if there are no funds collected from property taxes, where does the money come from to fund what is needed?

Not starting an argument, just asking a simple question

How about just reducing the size of government. Local all the way up to federal.

I agree. But like the saying goes, Rome was not built in a day, so you can't reduce it overnight. I doubt I will see the reduction in my lifetime, hopefully my children will.

It's just like with anything else money and power corrupt, so fair and just gets squeezed out.
I would love to be able to retire on my own property and not have to pay another cent to anyone because it has been paid in full, that will never happen. The taxes keep increasing from all directions. The only hope at this point is to be able to pay till your dead and buried.

Do you know to leave for good you have to prove you don't owe any money to anyone, before you can move out.

If you go by the original charter for our US Constitution taxes for the federal side of our government were intended to be collected via import and export tariff's. As to states property taxation is codified in their individual Constitutions. The adoption of the 16th amendment is were I believe everything went to heck. I, like many others, believe the 16th amendment was illegally adopted however it provided politicians such power to fill their pockets that none of them want to ever amend or repeal this crippling law of the land.

Why are taxes so high and getting higher? Well to answer that just take some of your time look at entitlements. Entitlements have been, erroneously, perceived as a Right by individuals or groups to receive moneys for nothing. Entitlements are actually a privilege but are not treated as such... for a privilege you must "qualify" and meet the "requirements" set out by law to be able to receive said moneys. Entitlements must be paid by the government, as stated by the rules, as this money is collected thru taxation for distribution to "qualified" entities. What has happened to make Entitlements a Right and not a Privilege is that politicians in their greed for money for their districts in an effort to get more votes on election days have perverted the rules and essentially removed the term "Privilege" and edited the "requirements" so as to make an entitlement seem like a "Right".

Once this perversion of entitlements occurred you now have your voters who will resist anyone who takes away their "Rightful Entitlement" ie free money or reform such entitlements as to stop the bleeding off of money from the government. To make up for this bleeding of money, and waste of money due to ever increasing administrative costs for doling out the money on an ever growing pool of "Rightfully Entitled" individuals, the governments must RAISE TAXES. Or find other ways to raid the general populaces bank accounts.

Yup, what burns me is a welfare cheat receives many benefits and pays NO TAX, but someone like me receives no benefits but pays a lot in tax. And we both get a equal vote!!!! How is this fair? The welfare bum has everything to gain NY voting for certain candidates and I have everything to lose!! Man am I sick of being bent over and having the sand put to me...

I think they are pulling something over on you! How about income tax, sales tax, the many nuance taxes like on your phone bill, the excise tax on your tires that are collected at the manufacturers level so you don't see them, the tax on each gallon of fuel for your car, etc, etc, etc. You don't see it but 75% of what you are spending is TAXES. You can now take your anti-shock pill. Frank... Most people have no idea what is going on around them!!!!

OH, You could almost reduce in a year just by cutting spending. The increase spending in the last 6 or so years in gov is higher than all the increases in spending in ALL past administrations. Think about it. Frank...

I have been forced to sell part of my farm just to pay the taxes, and when you sell part, the tax on the remaining land raises! Your kids don't stand a chance! Frank...

The answer is obvious,TERM LIMITS on congress. It was the big mistake of our founding Fathers. They were dedicated and didn't see the greed factor. Hay, most of our congress people are millionaires, now.

Frankn, that is what many people don't understand, it is land he and his family have owned and paid taxes on for a hundred years..

You own a home with 5 acres and your back bountry is a creek, because of heavy rains and erosion creek changes courses and you find 4 acres of your land is now on the other side of the creek and gov now claims your land with no compensation. ...

I understand the total tax issue, just using property tax as an example. Taxes are needed plain and simple, but how to control them is the question without an easy answers. And I agree that term limits would be a GREAT starting point.
