"I'm walking around the house "like a big Boy" now unassisted"

Good for you Jeff... Probably having that "last" bit of support from the air blathers gave the ligaments (and you) some relief when walking. I logged off computer shortly after telling you about the air pump option on your boot and two of my grandson's came in from swimming in the pool and was getting some food out of frig. They dripped some water on the hardwood floors and I pile dove into the coffee table and wall with my bad ankle. I couldn't believe it!!!! I hobbled around all day. Good thing you didn't call right then... because I was yelling like a little girl. I'm fine now. Here I am giving you advise and I can't even walk to the kitchen....

You all need some good thoughts and prayers, get healed up, and then you all need to stay out of trouble! Wish I could help you all somehow - cinnamon buns? Coffee? Bacon and pancakes? But I can't, so in the meantime, I'll just have to hope that everyone has a speedy recovery back to normal.

Yeah, say that 5 times fast. LOL

Funny ain't it ? You seem to be getting more medical advice on how to use the contraption here, then you did from your doctor! :)

I would think that the compression would help the swelling. I'd also see about finding a way to use some cold on it too. That also helps swelling. (I know, I used to run marathons. :) )

Still, get your medical advice from the doctor you trust. Just, don't be afraid to ask questions! Like, what is this Baby Buggy Bumper's use? ;)

Take care Jeff.

Glad to hear your making progress! Slow but steady is good.
Soon you'll be out there finding all the goodies and having a grand time!
You can bury the boot for some future MD'er to puzzle over. :icon_scratch: :laughing7:

Hay Jeff, you have it easy! Here's my schegual
6/23/14 physical exam by GP to make sure I can survive the operation. Hay, I haven't been to a doctor in 31 years.
6/24/14 1:30 I go under the knife and a few needles.
6/25/14 8:45 am back to the operating doctor to see if he did it right.
Medication
Right eye: 1 drop twice a day for 30 days from blue top dropper
Left eye: 1 drop every 2 hours 8 times a day from pink top dropper. I haven't figured that out yet!
1 drop 4 times a day from tan top dropper.

Oh, the right eye gets shot with a Lazar in 30 days.

See how lucky you are! lol Frank...-

:o good Luck Frank :o I hope you have a quick recovery.

I'll stick to 6 Month blood tests & my Meds for my Heart Problem

and crossing my fingers on my Ankle & any future ills :unhappysmiley:
I recently canceled all my Dr. appts for the year,
that have nothing to do with my ankle.
Gets to be too much running back & forth listening to dr's trying to talk me into things,
I don't feel I need at this time.

sounds to me like retina surgery.

Catarac, lens replacement and venting for gycloma. The right lens is OK

IT happened so slowly I didn't even know I had a problem. Years ago driving cross country I noticed the overhead signs on the interstate sometimes looked a little blurry. It kind of crept up on me. Frank...-

Good luck Frankn. You might need a driver on the way home. l.o.l..
My only hope for all those drops would be to make up some charts to keep track. If I could notice them in a timely fashion.:icon_scratch:
Will be great to get your vision improved though.

At the risk of high jacking Jeff's thread ... I too wish ya the best Frank. Surely you must bring a driver with you after the eye surgery... right?

Jeff... after having the boot on for hours and pumped up does your ankle hurt worse now when you take it off?

I actually feel better without it pumped up. I have is just slightly snug
& I haven't tried to remove it yet.

I hear ya Jeff it gets to be way too many appointments! I was so glad when my GP told me she'd see me in 6 months! Monday I see the surgeon for a follow up, and he is leaving, so I get handed to another total stranger for the rest of the follow ups! I hate when that happens!

Well people I will be praying for everyone to make a full and speedy recovery.

Now that you mentioned it Frankn those signs do look a tad blurry at times, the last place I had my eyes checked was the DMV....there's irony in there somewhere! :icon_scratch:

Update :

Just home from the Dr.
After looking at my Xrays he said the bone is healed & I can go back to my shoes
Unfortunately at this time I couldn’t get in a size 14 (My normal size is 13) at Walmart,
So there must still be swelling.

But I don’t need to go back anymore

Thanks I actually got into my 13" RealTree shoes once I got home here, Relaxed & tried.
However they are only about 6" high at best, so no ankle support.

& I'm a bit wobbly after all this time.

it is possible Walmart doesn't carry RealTree anymore :( & unfortunately prices
are 3 times as much from other sources for Hikers with any type of height
around the ankle area.

going to run to another wallyworld when the sun also rises and check what I can find there.

I know they have Herman Survivors, But they usually start falling apart after a Month or so.

I've never tried Walmarts Brama or Interceptor boots for Quality,
& sad thing around here at least 90% of what they carry are steel toes :(

That's what the DR. Said Yesterday Too :tongue3:

anyway, I just picked up a pair of Intercepter Tactical Boots at Wallmart E’ville.

$40 size 14.
Was eaier to get on once I opend the side Zipper & loosend the Laces allot more.
I realy don’t like the shiny Black Police / Military look of them, But the support on My ankles
At least till I heal More makes me satisfied for the Moment.

Glad your healing
!
Would it help if you got an ankle brace, or ace wrapped it for support? Not for all the time just sometimes.
When your not walking on it prop it up, helps to reduce swelling, and fluids don't collect there.
Take it easy on lumpy & hilly terrain.
.

Like Brad said you need to slowly start strengthening the muscles in that ankle.
Twelve years after I broke mine I tore the ligament in the same ankle, backing down some stairs with a heavy load. Still didn't want surgery sooo the foot turns outward slightly now. Ah, the battle scars of life!
