Okay, so my wife sends me this listing about a house for sale in South Carolina. Here is the listing so you will believe me (http://www.realtor.com/Prop/1071666168). Anyway, the house sits right in the middle of Sumter National Forest. Now, if I buy this house.....am I allowed to detect my yard? Quite a conundrum huh? On one hand I own that piece of property on the other hand it is in a National Forest. I bet the federal government will win this too. What do you think?

If the lot is .7 acres that would be yours to hunt. Just don't cross the property lines - EVER !!!

Yeah, I figured you could probably hunt on the land you purchased but you never know. I'm not sure if that property is really in the National Forest now. Microsoft Trips and Maps 2007 has it slap dab in the middle of the National Forest but a lot of other sources has the same national forest (as does Trips and Maps) near Greenwood, SC. Perhaps folks at Microsoft don't have very good quality control.
