I love my Sunspot Stealth scoop. Paid $ 189 couple of years ago. Works great on those rocky bottom creeks and lakes. If you look at the design you can make one yourself. I am not that talented, mine comes with a lifetime warranty.

99% of my detecting is on the beach and in shallow water so my "go to" scoop is the Sunspot Stealth 720i. It's a top of the line monster so my travel scoop is an RTG PRO 5" STAINLESS TRAVEL WATER SCOOP (#709miniTv) that I use when a break down, smaller scoop is in order.

WELL, if you want a sturdy but not heavy inexpensive scoop, you can convert a hand scoop by adding a length of electrical conduit for the long handle and rubber coating it with that spray on grip material.
I started with a Jet hand scoop made of SS. I bent the conduit and bolted it on with SS bolts after lowering the old handle frame and reattaching it with aluminum rivets. It has surver me about 13 years. Frank...- five star.png

PS: The holes are just small enough to stop a dime. I can shake out sand, wet or dry.

I wish I had use for a sand scoop.
Some of the Va. Beach looters, (gravediggermax on YT), have installed carbon fiber handles on their scoops with success. Give 'em a view.
Good luck
Peace

Hello fellows, im looking for a good sand/water scoop I can use in 3 or 4 feet of water...I would prefer stainless as it will hold up better if I hit some tough sand or rocks, I do not need to spend 150.00 on one either...I may even make my own... but what to you guys use and/or brand...

thanks,
Gary

RTG 710. It's great. Paid $ 185.00 here in Canada.
