With Xmas coming soon I need to find a new detector for my 11yo. He has been using the fisher f2 for the last 2 yrs and he's done pretty well with it but I think it may be time for an upgrade. I looked at the ace 350 but I don't know if that's much better than the f2 after reading some comparison's. I use the fisher f4 and I don't see a noticeable difference between the f2. He likes the numbers on the screen so that's kind of a must. We do mostly relic hunting In very iron infested house sites. Looking for something around $400 and something he can grow into and keep for awhile . I'm trying to talk the wife into an xp deus for me but of course she doesn't really understand why. Thanks for the input

If your son likes the display, I would suggest the Fisher F5. It is a different detector from the F2 and F4. More like the F70 and F75 platform.

I wouldn't go from a Fisher to a Garrett unless he dislikes Fisher. What about just getting a new coil?

If he likes the F2, I'd suck up the difference and get him an F5. You could probably get one for $500 from Bart.

You have all the adjustibility you need for any detector on the fly. The F5 is a workhorse. It is the next step.

It's a great machine. The constant feedback on ground conditions is a plus, and the display is one of the largest screens out there. If you are interested in a lightly used one, I have one on the classifieds.
