That's kind of sad to see the RS stores go away. I don't do as much electronics as I used to, but it sure was handy to stop in and pick up a part. Once back in the 80's, the manager of a store boxed up all the returned stuff for $40 a box. I still use some of that stuff.

Back when I was a kid.....RS was ALL parts, hardly any consumer electronics. I just loved to browse through the shelves. That was back when it was part of allied electronics. I even bought a tube for a geiger counter there. Couldn't get it to work, I didn't know enough then.

It is sad that people don't build/fix stuff any more

From their wireless headphones, to their DIY kits, to their electronic components...I could always count on these lasting at least a month or two. Won't hurt my feelings to see them go.
