Either my' 2009 F-150 Super Cab 4x4 or my' trusty old 1999 Ford Ranger XLT Sport 4x4 with 286,000 miles on her! I use which ever one is most needed for the situation or trip as my two oldest daughters also drive them as well. I only take what is needed and remove when done as I won't risk having anything stolen. It could an assortment of guns, metal detectors or Gold prospecting equipment.

The reason I started putting all of my stuff in totes and strapping them down is because I hit a bridge abutment this winter and almost got my head taken taken off by a cordless drill that was in the back. I'm a builder and often times have a bunch of tools in my Tahoe. So just a thought for those of you that drive SUVs. All that good gear we carry in the back could be what kills you. Be careful with that stuff.

Great choice! I had an 03 that I absolutely loved. Those lockers are amazing. I may buy another one now that I have room in my garage. I always said if I could just leave the top off it and just drive it on nice days it would be perfect

I have owned nothing but Jeeps for almost 30 years now. Love em to death. I do all my own maintenance and mods too.
That way you KNOW exactly what you have and what you can do.
I have my 4 banger Cherokee 2 door geared to 4:88 with a LOKKA in the rear and an OX in the front.
Ported exhaust and intakes,,header,,4.0 throttle body and Dodge 4 port NEON fuel injectors.
Literally it goes anywhere I point it. And redlines out at 5500RPM.
Front and rear hitches. Winch coming soon that will go on a hitch plate so it can be used either front or rear.

And yes,,,I HAVE pulled other fullsized vehicles out of sticky situations with it.
The wife is driving a 1998 TJ that I set up with a LCOG lift. I have 6 inches lift and hers has 3 inches,, but hers will outflex mine every time.

Lots of nice rigs guys n gals. We ALL KNOW that what we do and where we go to find our personal "treasures" is totally dependent n our vehicles.
Not to mention having dependability for when the SHTF.

Hubs had to buy a new truck in October, 2014 to go hunting, gold panning with: so he bought a Dodge 2500 Super Cab Diesel, 8 foot box (so we can put the "new" atv on it <huh>). He had an elk clip him on the driver's side (cost $6,000.00 for repair), wants to be a bed liner in it so the gold equipment (pans, buckets, shovels, rakes, dry washer, trommel-small,sluice boxes will fit, what doesn't fit in there goes on the trailer behind as we haul the little electric trailer around so we can unload all of this and take it to the claims !). By now you all are laughing, <stomping foot> its no laughing matter !! LOL (Besides none of that would fit in my Veloster!LOL)
Oh well its a hobby we both enjoy and we both enjoy the outdoors so its a bonus!

2014 jeep Cherokee trail hawk. Got a small pack with camping/overnight items. Shovel, tarp, knife, machete, tow kit, trauma kit, Glock 22 w/2 mags, small survival kit in a waist pack, case (+/-) bottled water, 2 mres, and extra shades. If I'm going out looking at stuff I'll take the gold bug, climbing kit, extra gas, & extra water.

You have it bad! Looks like your all set for what your doing. I would be all set if I found a pine tree Shilling. Looks like you have some good area to hunt for awhile. I just watch the landscapers turn out topsoil on site now. The stuff they must miss, find and destroy. Now if you can just get the dog to smell , point out and dig gold. You'll be all set! Ha Ha At least the dog can smell out old homesteads in the woods for you, RIGHT!!!
