Hi All,

I am doing some research for a new project on DB Cooper. I am at the point where newspaper and magazine articles no longer cut it. I would love to talk to some real DB Cooper aficionados. If you, or anyone you know is passionate about the mystery of DB Cooper or actually an expert on the subject - let me know! Let's chat! I want to hear your story and i'll fill you in on what i've got brewing!

Thanks!

I believe DB Cooper is Kenneth Christiansen, who actually worked for northwest airlines. Kenneth often wore a wig, but suddenly stopped after the day of the heist. Kenneth had motive - Northwest Airlines went on strike twelve different times in his career there. Kenneth was any Army paratrooper with a vast knowledge of parachutes, and chose the parachute that was the most complex to operate. Hostages were shown pictures of Kenneth and almost all of them said it was the best match of any suspect ever, including one hostage that said the picture of Christiansen gave her chills. After the Hijacking K.C paid 16,000$ in cash for a house and gave a friend a 5,000$ loan yet his salary at the airlines was about 150$ a week.

After his death, relatives found a picture behind another picture that shows K.C walking through the door with a briefcase identical to the one the hijacker carried. In the picture he is seen with a large bag of what looks like it could easily be $$. Kenneth smoked cigarettes and drank bourbon, which is what DB Cooper was witnessed doing on the plane before handing the stewardess the demand note. Kenneth knew much about planes. DB Cooper requested that the plane wings be put at a certain angle, at a certain altitude, to achieve the proper speed for the jump.

I know I'm probably leaving out more that points to K.C but I can't remember off hand. If Kenneth Christiansen isn't DB Cooper idk who was.

Yep! Thanks for your reply! I've read about KC and the various indications he might've been DB Cooper.

Have you spent much time researching Cooper?

I'm looking for a real Cooper fanatic! Someone who knows ALL the theories! Someone who might be interested to go out with us to investigate some of these theories further.

I did a college final paper on him. I don't know whether I'm an expert or not, but I have certainly researched DB Cooper for years. Another fact I forgot last night was that the FBI thought whoever picked the original alias 'Dan cooper' did so based on a comic about a Dan Cooper who was a military parachutist who in one episode jumps out of a plane and collects a random. Kenneth Christiansen was exposed to those comics, and one was found under his mattress after his death.

The FBI theorizes that DB Cooper was killed bc of the weather and what Cooper was wearing. The FBI also speculated that he likely landed in the water and drowned or died from hypothermia.

I am also aware of other theories / suspects. I'd be happy to lend an info I can to help.

I'm certainly not an expert, but it's something that I've read about over the years.

My thoughts? He knew what he was doing and he had a plan. That having been said, there's no small amount of evidence that he didn't make it. Besides the fact that it was a risky jump (admittedly he had no other choice and he took some steps to make it safer), a few thousand dollars washed up on the Colombia, his choice of parachutes was questionable (he picked a dummy as his reserve, so he basically jumped without a reserve), and the big one: besides the money in the river, none of it ever turned up. That having been said, had he waited a decent amount of time before spending it, spent it carefully, and made sure to launder it to some extent, no one would have noticed the money when it went back into circulation.

Interestingly enough, Christiansen bought his house...what, a year after this happened? Long enough for things to settle down a bit. I would have waited longer myself but I don't know his situation. A guy doesn't hijack a plane and make a night jump at 10,000 feet over Washington's back country if he has other options. Breaking down a few thousand dollars by the twenty would have been tedious, but a year would be long enough to do it. After a few more years, no one would be looking for it any more and he could be a bit more aggressive with how he spent it. But hell, given the amount of planning that went in to getting the money in the first place, whoever Cooper was, I have no doubt that he had plans for how he'd dispose of it if he was successful. You don't plan a heist like that and then haul it all to the bank or casino the next day, after all.

Another hint that intrigues me is that he made his move on the night before Thanksgiving, giving him a solid four day weekend before Monday morning. If he'd had a day job, he could conceivably hijack the plane on Wednesday afternoon, be on the ground by Wednesday evening, and (hopefully) be back at work on Monday or Tuesday. I don't think that the timing was accidental. If we accept that this was part of the plan, Cooper had a Monday-Friday job and expected to return to it. This is significant on several levels.

Was he a local? Probably, but it's not beyond the realm of possibility that he simply spent a few minutes with a map (or even had a map on his person) to get the lay of the land, then let that knowledge slip ("That must be Tacoma down there..." Well, since we just took off from Sea-Tac a few minutes ago and there's now a large city below us, yeah, that pretty much has to be Tacoma. You don't need to be a local to know that) in order to appear to be a local. He also knew things about the plane that the average person (or even flight crew member) would not have...also significant, if you ask me.
