The only thing the cz6 (or any discriminator for that matter) can tell you, is conductivity comparison. Ie.: lows versus mids versus highs, etc... And unfortunately, various metal share the same conductivities . Aluminum and alloyed gold, for instance. Copper and brass for instance, etc.... Also size plays into the net result of conductivity. However, that's where your ears come into play, because, of course, an entire aluminum can sounds different (the sizing as you scan over it) than a pulltab (which would have a smaller foot-print signal).

The CZ6 has only something like 7 or 8 lumped-together categories. As opposed to expanded ranges of other machines, with many more increments. But in-so-far as "telling metals apart", it's a moot point as to how many increments on the scale a machine has. Just that with more increments (and/or left-right axis), you can get tricky and perhaps try to tell screw caps apart from older green wheaties, etc....

The CZ6 is a good machine. Deep seeking. Very easy to learn and use. The downsides are: some people don't like the silent search. And some people find that it has an affiinity for deep bent nails, which it can start to ID as conductive targets (rather than disc'ing them out as iron).

Also this machine runs hot unless you turn sensitivity way down. Try all metal with lowered sens
until you get the hang of it, check signals with 5cent notch and dig. This setting will pick up most
gold jewelry and silver.
