What's your Holy Grail?

Depending on what type of treasure hunting we do, we all have that Holy Grail that we want to find. I define a Holy Grail as something that is plausible to find, but exceedingly rare (a 1 in 10 lifetimes find or so). For me, my Holy Grain find would be a NE Shilling, well, any NE coinage, really.

So what's your Holy Grail?

Breaking into the 1700's club, any coin from that period would be on my list. Living in Ohio there is a slim chance for the 1700's and almost no chance for the 1600's.

I almost found my holy grail today, pulled my oldest coin to date this morning, an 1812 5 Francs. It's also my only big silver I've found to date unless you count a 40% silver Kennedy half.

I would really like to find a nice cache of Queen Victoria silver coins (perhaps a 100 pieces or so ) Canadian or British -
Let me say right up front that I will be very grateful to find even one of these but the OP asked for "Holy Grail " finds.

I mostly CW relic hunt and have only been doing it for 2 years. When I started my holy grail was a US buckle. I have been really lucky to have found a US puppy pal buckle and a CS reef buckle. Have also found several buttons, bullets and other interesting relics. Have also found 1/2 dozen old coins. I would love to find a nice eagle breast plate and maybe someday I will but my true holy grail would be a good virgin site loaded with relics and all the time I wanted to hunt it. I guess we can all dream huh?

My "Holy Grail" had nothing to do with metal detecting. Back in 2003/2004 (Lebron James rookie year) Upper deck came out with a basketball set called Upper Deck Exquisite. The packs contained 5 cards per pack at a cost of $500.00 per pack I bought a single pack and opened it up to find a Lebron James Emblems of endorsement numbered 11/15 it had his autograph and 2 patches from his jersey. I sold the card for $1500.00 and just about a month later the card was worth $15k. I have kicked myself in the ass ever since.

Man! That sucks! I guess that you win some and lose some, hopefully next time you will score big.

My Holy Grail would probably make some of you laugh. I have always wanted to find anything from the 1700's or earlier. But I need to someday find a hammered silver coin. I see everyone on here finding them and I envy all of you who do. I don't think they are around here but I will still find one someday and then my life will be complete. lol, okay its not that dramatic but I really want to find one.

Not detecting yet.............and will likely change my choice after beginning............
For now, finishing either my Wheats (1909 VDB s), Mercurys (1916 d) or Indian Head collections...................any one of them would do...............

A small medieval up to 18th century cache. I mostly hunt beaches, but I do research with old maps, and located a bunch of old houses that vanished ever since.

Tough thing is to get permission, and go there.

A gold doubloon 8 escudo from the 1715 Plate Fleet. I might even enjoy looking at it a few days before I sell it.
