I think you would enjoy Metal Detecting. A lot of us get sore ( some of us will not admit to it as readily as others) but that will pass in time as you get use to it. Keep plenty of Aleeve and Ben Gay on hand.
A good starter detector is the Ace 250, made by Garrett. I have seen them on EBAY for around $180. New ones are little over $200. Shop around.
