Metal Detecting Worst Hobby?

Metal detecting requires patience, something the author is painfully lacking. In today's world, immediate gratification is a requirement of any activity or it's on to the next one.

I hate to see anyone lose interest in this hobby without giving it a chance, but that's the way it goes. It just means more treasure for the rest of us!

Im glad she put it away. 1 less person out there digging holes and not filling them in. Sure, we may look like dorks out there but im cool with that. Im not out to impress anyone. besides, its better than smoking crack!!

I have mixed feelings about it. I enjoy detecting but I always get dirty looks from people. Maybe 1 or 2 people will be intrigued but for the most part I get glares like im destroying Jesus's grave. Then when I see a fellow MDer, they aint the friendliest bunch around. They almost never want to talk or are very brief. Its different with people prospecting for gold, they always have stories to tell.
