OLD...old dolls found in box.

I know I'm the self proclaimed worlds greatest horseshoe finder but I admit I push that.... But today I found something I NEVER expected to find. And, I know NOTHING about them nor have looked into it to date. Does ANYBODY know anything about these old dolls? Are they worth anything or collectable?

I have a piece of property I set up for my parents in 98". They moved from MI. to TN. in 98'. I'm now selling it and cleaning / moving everything within the woodshop with a large storage area included inside. My son and I were going through boxes while moving today and came upon this one. The box was still taped shut with some OLD tape. The box was addressed to my late Great Aunt in MI. The total postage at the time was just under a $1.00 (adding up stamps). Inside the box was a bunch of old dolls and some optional clothing (not pictured). Some of the dolls are larger and some smaller. Some dolls have eyes that move (open/close or try). It appears the heads, arms and legs are ceramic in nature. One doll has a leather body. All the others have "cloth / cotton" bodies. All the dolls are in a fragile state. Some of the dolls have "makeup" or coloring upon their face.

So... if anybody knows where I can get a handle on what these dolls are PLEASE let me know. Thanks.... Brad

Yea.... I totally get that buddy. That's EXACTLY what my wife said... I'd rather deal with horseshoes finds (you know why).

Thanks to antiques roadshow, I recall a lot of old dolls have makers marks, or some sort of ID, at the base of the back of the neck.

I would google old dolls... and try to match up images, and go from there

Thanks Dave... I haven't a CLUE on what I opened up here... But it was kind of cool to see all of these old doll's within a single box. I'll look. There now just sitting on my pool table waiting for me to do "something".

There's Ebay to try to match up the dolls or start undressing the back of the neck and write down the info if there is any. Either way there's some coin sitting there in the box full that's for sure. There's the doll collector forums that have load of information, heck winter is just around the corner and a little research on even dolls never would hurt a grown man-would it?

Your right about the winter AND it wouldn't hurt... but I can't do it if my buddy Frank is visiting.

I looked for a couple of hours yesterday and COULD NOT FIND THIS 1ST DOLLS information. I came close but could not find a match.

INFO: 1. Above and between the ears across the back of the skull is ARMAND MARSEILLE. 2. On back, just below neck is the word GERMANY across upper shoulders. 3. Below that is 370 centered. 4. Below that is A. O. A. centered. 5. Doll is 21" high. 6. The body is all leather. 7. Brown cloth socks are "tacked" onto the feet just above ankles. 8. Legs swivel at the hips.

HELP... HELP... HELP. My camera isn't working properly but I'll try and post some pics later. Any info would be great.

Don't know if you found this reference site for Armand Marseille dolls. Something about this doll seems off, though, like the body is a replacement or something. Doesn't seem to go with the head.
