Where do I look?

Where do I go to find maps of old house sites? I live in Northeast oklahoma which is in the Cherokee Nation and I have tried using the deeper web search but still I am not finding what I am looking for.

Try historic map works, I use the county maps from the 180's for my area in Ohio. It shows all businesses and homes.

Is there a local historical society?

Does your county have a historian? (Some have an "official" historian).

Here's a website that has maps and atlases by state. (I just found this one - LOTS of good stuff).

We may have a historical society in Tahlequah which is close to where I live and the capital of the Cherokee Nation but I don't think we have a local historian for Adair County. I will try theses sources and thank you everyone for your suggestions which I am going to try out!
