There's really not much that has to be done. Just gently scrape the loose dirt and corrosion off with a toothpick. Start with the back and you'll see how much pressure you can get away with without marking it up. I used the word pressure but you don't really need to apply any to get results. This is more just some fine tuning so to speak, in around the edges where the dirt is, but also might take a little of the corrosion spots off if they are not hard.

Good choice. Some people can never be happy and have to do something and often end up messing up their finds and regret it.
