If you are not running into other hunters you are lucky as they might not be as neat with the ground as you. They also might be detecting very early and are shy. Some don't realize the fun you can have playing in the dirt for things.

I think metal detecting is the most fun you can have with your clothes on. ::)

Pick out a nice friend and offer to take them detecting. Let them swing the detector for awhile and get bit.

nealb,
Good luck in Omaha. I have traveled there a few times and have hunted with Nedigger. Ask him about the lock he found.

Good Luck and HH

I think they've all been shot and buried or serving life sentences for mistakingly trespassing one time or another.

Having detected in Ohio I understand your problem. Metal detectorists in Ohio was shy and elusive creatures. They abhor crowds and prefer empty parks. To catch one you simply have to bait them.
Place an ad in your local newspaper's lost and found section stating that a $5 gold coin was lost in the wood chips at such and such park. Come early and wait for your prey.

Good Hunting

I saw the guy in the first photo yesterday.
If you're in the right public spots you should see guys like me. I even have a few of their pictures in action. I seen a few others but I didn't take their pictures.

I'm so jealous of everyone on here that never sees anyone else detecting!

I see people out detecting the parks around here pretty frequently.

Feel blessed that you don't see anyone else out detecting in your area!!

In a way I hate to agree on this one...but do 100%! ;D I would rather hunt on my own and be left alone while doing so. i have enough contact with people and this is my get away! ;)

Re: Metal Detectorists. I Haven't Seen Any !

Strange this post is giving me the itch. Most hunters are out in the early AM, the world is bigger than you think. All the people in the world could fit on a 1/4 of a very small Island. (shoulder to shoulder) I should hunt...

Keep @ it and HH!!

That is the funniest thing I've read on Tnet today. One question though....when you catch your prey, how do you clean/cook 'em? What part is the best eatin'?
