I would imagine they are real coins but I would e-mail the seller to question the "pirate coin/gold" claim... sometimes people creatively use this as artistic expression (i.e. coins of the times, used/targeted by Pirates, etc.) If the seller has positive feedback and has a history of selling on eBay for a while he may be considered a trusted seller, but I would consider other feedback you get here as well. A question to ask the seller might be what vessel(s) the coins were recovered from and from there you can investigate whether the ship had a history of Pirates.

The seller is also answering user e-mails for everyone to see, which is a sign of honesty imho.

being an ebay fanatic...I cannot pass up a good deal...

I am watching several of these items...for me and a friend...if I buy some items

will post if real ....but I have found that 1) 100% feedback..and 2) answers emails
that honesty is integral with someone...

heck..some of these deals are pretty good...make some nice decorations...
