Ya, I love the 5 x 8. I was just wondering if I was missing anything not using the stock coil. Doesn't sound like it.

Looks like it doesn't matter now tho......Snowed 5 inches last night:BangHead:

Don't forget Tennis Elbow. I got it real bad swinging the Ace 250, then I went to the AT Pro with 5x8 and the tennis elbow went away.

I ordered my at-pro with the 5x8 at the same time and it is a permanent attachment to my machine :icon_thumright:

I run the stock coil and the 5x8 in the trash. The bigger coil does get you a little cleaner signal on the deep stuff. I may be the minority but I like the stock coil just fine.

The only advantage the larger coil may have is to add maybe another inch of depth. The deepest coin that I recovered using the smaller coil was a Mercury Dime at 9 inches. As was previously mentioned, the larger coil is heavier, which can cut down the hunt time due to fatigue. I used an AT PRO exclusively for about 2 years. Although it recovered silver and gold, the clad found in the first 18 months, paid off the cost of the machine. It came with the 8 X 11 stock coil. The stock coil, being a larger coil made it more difficult to isolate a good target in a trashy area. Pin pointing a target in general is always easier with a smaller coil. The larger coil can overlap multiple targets that are just inches apart. The 5 × 8 coil can separate the multiple targets and help isolate and pin point the best target reading.

I use a F75 but after seeing the AT Pro with the small coil perform I wanted one. I had the chance to use it myself. I also ordered mine with the two coil package. The stock coil is a back up coil now. The smaller coil does not throw the balance off and is great in a trashy area. I hunt relics and coins in trashy areas so have seen the benefits of this setup on the AT Pro. I am finding a lot of rings, and relics. It is a nice support machine for my F75.
