Howdy ya'll...I am new here but wanted to share something. I just bought a "Sumerian Shell Ring Money" piece that I found buried in my local thrift shop for $4.00 bucks. It is a a nice frame with a COA on the back from a T.L. Sullivan, Sr. Numismatist from "Gulfstream Rarities, Inc. Is this coin legit? Did I hit the jackpot? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

It would definitely be a rarity. I would be wary to say it truly is real but stranger things have happened. I will hope someone with more knowledge will chime in for you.

Do a google search and also check out EBay. They had some posted but without pics no idea if they were similar or not to your find.

I searched and see what they look like - but as they are hand made how would you ever know if it was "legit". It's not a coin, in any case. It's money worked out of a bit of shell.

The few I have seen on ebay are selling for less than $100. I'm sure it has some value but not a "jackpot" find.
