Instead of rubbing the dirt off of a coin that might be very valuable, and risk scratching it, they use water to soak the dirt off of the coin. I had never heard of it, til I started watching the Hoover boys on Youtube.

Doesn't every one take water to drink? Or am I just one of those hydrated freaks. :)

When I'm out in the field, I'm looking for the next target to dig up. I'm not wasting time half assed cleaning a coin that I'll need to actually do a good job cleaning once I'm home.

Made up gimmick to sell videos and make one looks professional. But a good idea as long as water doesnt hurt a newly dug coin. Letting a old coin dry out after digging seems to ruin it for me. I just try to keep them in a ziplock and place them in a cool dry place. But yes its a new term that can be added to the metal detectors terminology list.

Yep, small spray bottle filled with water. Mine leaked in my digger's bag, yuck! I'll wait and clean the finds at home from now on. Lol

In New Zealand we have Foo Foo Valves. They burst under pressure. Especially when confronted by an idiot.
All present company excepted - of course :headbang:

A term, that no self-respecting metal detectorists, would ever use! :notworthy:

Come to think of it, the neighbors cat did have a foo-foo blanket once..... :icon_scratch:
funniest thing, watching that cat drag that blanket around, taking funny steps...... :laughing7:

This is a fun thread!

It’s a secret solution to clean all your finds and turn them into Morgan’s.
Correction, it turns all Kurt's finds into Morgans.

Problem is most people don't get that water makes some finds worse and not better.... but I guess there's a price to pay to be cool like the Hoover Boys. My absolute two biggest pet peeves watching videos is spraying the finds, and calling out the number reading on the detector. Who cares if you have a 12-24... what's the difference, just dig the damn hole!
Bob is the only cool Hoover Boy. Kurt has his moments. Brad is a garbage detector and a sell-out from what I have heard. "What does an (X) ring up as" makes me cringe every single time I hear it.

Made up gimmick to sell videos and make one looks professional.
I think it's just something fun that other people also wanted to enjoy, so it was made available. No one is paying any bills sending foo foo bottles to John Q Newbie who enjoys watching the Hoovers on YT. In fact, it's probably a pain, but it makes people happy. I think...?

Foo-Foo Juice should only be used on silver coins. Spraying it on old coppers might result in removing patina which would then become as smooth as Brad's butt.
