Their are over 100,000. homeless here at any given time. They roam the Casinos and maybe your Hotel hallway. Yes lots of security, but they don"t outnumber the homeless. Some security are also very crooket,and work in gangs.Leave your valuables at home,use cheap cameras,dress down,keep it casual...Plenty of guests hotel thefts go unreported in the press.
That goes across the board,low end to high end...

The best thing about Vegas is US 95 south to Quartzsite, AZ IMO.
