No matter where you live you should always be prepared for a failure. Be it power or water or flooding, what ever.

We may get a bunch of rain down here, so no snow, but who's to say power doesn't go out, maybe a tornado or such hits, and power/water is out for days.

Maybe it's the old Boy Scout in me, but we're stocked for a minimum one month of no power. Generators, extra fuel, food, lots of water, tarps/tape, medical supplies, aux lights/batteries, 4WD vehicles. And yes even protection if it comes to that.

Don't forget about the incessant rain, the oppressive humidity, the alligators, the pythons, the frogs, the lizards and the bugs as well. Not to mention all the Cuban boat people arriving at your shores every day.

I'll take New England over Florida any day.

And don't forget to have some cash around. In a widespread outage, it may be the only way to buy things if you need them.
