10 – The DELUSIONAL Detectorist
After a year of metal detecting and not finding much, the new detectorist (for some inexplicable treason) turns into a wannabe Stephen Spielberg and video records every dug hole and duff find. This is often 35 minutes of boring footage punctuated by sick-making shaky camerawork punctuated by farting wind noises.

Viewers comment with pithy phrases like, “Good video,” and “I liked that,” even though they know it was crap. Unfortunately, such responses only encourage more of the same.

Agreed,

I could go on about Yo yo tube detecting videos... some just kill me.
They are agonizingly longer than should be for many of them.

To each his/her own but I have no interest in posting videos of my finds.....heck I have a hard enough time figuring out my beep and dig detector let alone doing a half decent video....besides I wouldn't want all kinds of detectorists converging on my pounded to death sites....lol..

I admit though that some of the detecting videos are rather entertaining.

Apparently I am not addicted. I hiked up to an old site today just to take pictures and left my detector back in the vehicle. Thank goodness we aren't all alike or some of those wonderful detecting videos would never have been made.

I don't watch videos on you tube.

I watch them every day, but I have a short attention span. I don't need a one minute intro and three minutes watching them drive to their "secret" location. Get to the point and don't spend five minutes poking the hole with a pinpointer looking for a wheatie!. Grab the dirt and throw it on your coil. Or do what I do and carry a small plastic bin with you. Toss the dirt in the bin until you hear a beep! Not hard to do. Geez!

Ehhhh just rent a bulldozer and take all the dirt home...

Sift it later.
