The Go-Pro-Being-Held-At-Arms' length is getting old. Go get a piece of 1" white PVC pipe. Make a big "L" out of it. Mount the camera on one end. You can make the upright part about 18". The horizontal part 2-3 feet, whatever suits your taste. Then you put a small "Handle" on the end opposite the camera for a grip, and Presto! You can hold the mount and not extend your arm. I'd glue the "handle" on and the flat end where the camera mounts. Leave the middle unglued for easy transport. You can then take pics from the side, front or REAR without seeing the mount, if you position it right for our height. Might want to paint it black, too.

Another pro tip from Smokey the Film Director. (My other "hobby".)
