Hey guys...going to be in Austin, TX Thursday-Sunday for a conference and was wondering if there were any must-see recommendations while there...would probably have half an afternoon to get out. Of course, we've got all evening every night. I like History, good craft beer, music, laid-back pub style atmosphere...we are staying downtown.

Here's a picture of a find to make it a metal detecting related post...haha!

Austin is a very "cool" town. Definitely go to 6th street. Great live music, good eats. I like the Iron Cactus, second floor balcony overlooking 6th street.
Great Margarita's.
Town Lake, University of Texas, Broken Spoke dance Hall, South Congress Ave. The bat flight from Congress St Bridge. (little early in the year for Lot's of bats)
Too much to do in one trip.

Stubb's BBQ on 1st street w/live music. Hut's hamburgers way down on 6th, been there since the 1930's/Harry Ransom Center on UT campus block up Guadalupe from MLK. Contains a Gutenberg Bible(first printed bible and UT outbid Germany for this one, the best of the 5 still in existence. Also the first photo ever taken. Barton Springs Pool, Guadalupe St. in general across from UT, ^th street at night. Lots of live music, but the best is probably out Lamar at the Broken Spoke, Driskill Hotel, old and fancy downtown, State Capitol, LBJ library on UT campus. Just get online and check out Austin sights. Even a Formula 1 Grand Prix sometime. Tons of stuff to do and see. Town Lake, Zilker Park(concerts)...
