One of the first meals she made for me when we finally had our own place. We were young then!:laughing7:We didn't even have furniture at that place at that time. She made pork chops, salad, and whatever else. Anyhow, she brings me the plate. and was watching me. I take a bite and it was the worst thing I ever tasted. I didn't want to say anything or hurt her feelings! So, after a couple of minutes of choking this stuff down trying to smile? Eyes watering, couldn't drink enough of anything to wash the taste out!!

She started laughing! When she went to put the garlic powder on or whatever it was? The lid came off and it dumped all over them! So....She scraped it off and thought it would be ok! :laughing7: I was relieved that it was an accident and they really weren't "supposed" to taste like that! :laughing7: We ordered pizza that night! And the new puppy we had at the time wouldn't even eat the pork chops!:laughing7:

So, that has been an over 20 year joke now! I'll put my own spices on!

We use to play jokes on each other all the time! The pull fire crackers on cupboard or bathroom doors. She let my brother in one time so he could put his dirty socks in my pillow case! Then had to be the first one to call him when I finally figured out what stunk so bad! I thought it was my pillow! Flipped it over? And about puked! something lumpy inside the pillow case! They would break the whole pack of cigs and put them all back! So go to grab a cig first thing in the morn. all half dazed and hungover? They are all broke! The list goes on and on! I miss those days! :laughing7::laughing7:

Practical jokes are always funny (unless your the victim). We had an ass for a foreman at GM. Break time came @ 9:00 am. I grabbed some bluing ink and spread all over the mouth and ear piece on the phone by his desk. Four of us were in on it. Here came the foreman down the production isle. I walked across the isle and picked up another phone and called his desk. He picks up phone and "slaps" it up to his face. I hung up.... mission accomplished! My three other comrades were within 20yds. of him when I called. They said when he realized what had happened he ripped the phone off the mounts and threw it up against one of the presses close by. For the next 9-10 days he had a ring of blue around his mouth and ear (completely shaven head). You couldn't help but laugh every time he got close to ya.... But he straightened out some and mellowed after some follow up lessons. He was a slow learner...? :dontknow:

If you get something really spicy hot, take a handful of sugar nd pop it into your mouth. Bite down on it and then spit it out. The sugar will absorb the oil from the chili, peppers, ect. and now the burn is gone. Learned that a long time ago and it works. Don't keep it in so long that it starts to liquefy. You could use flour but sugar is nicer. LOL

Working in iron head department the big wigs would pass through through the back door to offices without a glance at us production rats, except when the doorknob somehow got greased at lunchtime on occasion.:occasion14:

If y'all are true chili addicts ya might want to attend the annual chili hot sauce show at the Sandia Casino in Albuquerque NM.
Hundreds of companies hawking their creations. It's cheap too.
I was told the breakfast burrito was invented here by the early hot air balloonists looking for a breakfast they could fly with.

Another foreman and another decade forward from my past post. Same company (GM (Fisher Body) - stamping plant Kalamazoo). I have MANY of them along with a couple good one's later. But for now here's the one about the next foreman. He had his own "private" steel storage box made and mounted upon the manufacturing stamping floor near his desk. Now we all had to use the issued gloves given to us by GM for production use. But these gloves were "beneath" the use for our new foreman if he had to use them. He had his own "special line" of gloves ordered. So when I asked for some help by him for a minute or two he say's I don't want to get my gloves dirty....? WTF....? So, later he laid his gloves down on his production desk and left the area. I filled the fingers with grease on one glove. Guess he was a little pissed I heard. Did it again the next day... and the same thing happened. Was even more pissed I heard (another slow learner). What he didn't know is that I picked the lock on his steel box.... took 3 pair of gloves among MANY! (30-40 pairs) That gave me 6 gloves to work with. While within this glove stash I reached down and filled 5 more gloves with grease spaced apart. This continued 2 more times (2 gloves left I took). Then soon later one day I asked again for some immediate help and he said no.... I said to him "Your gonna run out of gloves soon" and... "You need to rethink your work ethic... gloves are cheap". He was SHOCKED!!!!!

He changed the lock on his storage container. But he kept the same inventory. The gloves below were already "loaded".... He NEVER figured it out. I'd load a glove (last 2 I had) then switch it out and he was so paranoid then. Then later (1-2- wks.) he'd change out his gloves and there's the grease again. It took awhile and a lot of thinking on his part but he changed soon after. He even ASKED if anybody needed some help now and then.

One+ years later we actually became friends on the manufacturing floor and I told him everything.... This story is mild in nature.

I have so many stories about GM / Management / Production Personal Lots of slow learners in this world.

Oh yes ,saw many greased gloves and other shenanigans.
Once in a while it was hard to get one over ,but always a way eventually.

Sewed pantlegs ,paper in work boots ,knots tied in sleeves. Cup of water balanced on shop lights. Dollar on fishline ,coins glued to floor. Ect..

Had a shampoo thief one place.
I added a full bottle of green dye to a partial bottle and it got swiped.
We posted watch for a leprechaun but none turned up.
Figured some one took it home and caught heck....

Yes!! The coin glued to the floor! I did that and the owner was ticked! months later at the Christmas party he stood up in front of everyone and said "and when I find out which one of you glued the quarter to floor........." :laughing7: No one ever told him it was me! :laughing7: He probably knew and was just have a little fun watching me turn red! I was the youngest guy that worked at the place at the time. That was a fun place! We put a quarter in the toilet and have no idea who stuck their hand in there to get it!:laughing7:

Way back in early 80's many GM plants were downsizing or closing. Workers transferred all over the U.S. Many Chicago workers came to our stamping plant. And.... they came with full seniority actually shifting many of our personal into new roles. This one person came into our plant with 36 years of time instead of retiring. He displaced a friend of mine from his long held role. And he bragged about it during our lunch time numerous times. I told him he's an ass outright and it didn't go over well with him. He then states to me "You wouldn't dare say that to me at my old plant"! "What difference would it make to me your still an ass". He then says... "You better carry 4 spare tires with ya because you could be walking home". His buddies all laughed. I just smiled at him and gave him the thumbs up! "That's a warning" he states as I walked away. I shook my head walking away and said "No, it's not" as his buddies continued to laugh.

After lunch I walked outside and got the parking lot row and number he was parked in and his plate number. I then hit the phone booth and started calling vehicle service places. I tried 8-9 or more and then I got a bite. He'd be happy to come pick up the old vehicle and tow to the transmission shop! I gave him the parking number, truck type and plate number. I said I'd be right down after work to authorize the work and pay him because I couldn't leave work right now. Sure he says... no problem.

The next morning several folks came up to me and told me about "Dave's" truck. Then at 1st break a couple of his friends (from Chicago) came up to me to ask if I knew what happened to the truck? Why would I.... I asked. They said because he threatened you yesterday. I said no he didn't.... he warned me... REMEMBER? I said there's a difference.

At lunch the same two guys approached me and said he's sorry now.... but not him. I just said I didn't see a thing as I was working all day. He didn't even take his spot during lunch that day.

On the fourth day he got his truck back. I guess the service shop called the cops and they got it all straightened out. I never told a sole at the plant for years. This guy avoided me like the plague and NEVER ever talked or approached me again. About 1 year later I sat on the hood of my car while parked about 8-9 vehicles up from his. As he walked by I said I'm still carrying my spares buddy and I had better not ever need them either. He still wouldn't even look at me or address me.... good! But... EVERYBODY knew and ribbed him badly about that's how "we" handle things here at this plant. He toned it down a LOT.

I hate bullies and arrogant folks that are full of hot air and belittle folks around them.

I have a "father in law" that really hates me!:laughing7: He was invited to go fishing in a local business owners boat on Lake Erie with a group of guys. He gets out there, there is 5 other guys including the owner of the boat. They are talking while fishing. He starts running his mouth about what a piece of crap is with his "daughter".Telling them what he is going to do. Shove screwdrivers in my eyes or what ever he thinks up that he's going to do next that he probably saw in some mobster movie!.:laughing7: They seemed to be interested and let him go on and on. Then at one point someone says. "what's your daughters name" he tells them. And the whole thing turned on him!

They were all my friends too! And they knew who he was from the start and who he was talking about! :laughing7: They knew the real story behind this clown, and what kind of person I really am.. Anyhow, the owner of the boat told him...."It must really take some kind of A hole to not get along with _______ He Helped rebuild the Boat your standing in and enjoying right now......." Then the rest of them made their jabs....They said he just sat there drank his beer and didn't say a word the rest of the time out! So, his threats didn't get him any support or sympathy that day!:laughing7:

After that? the guy really dislikes me! There is way more to him and I, but I loved it when those guys came back and we were all sitting around laughing about the look on his face! "he runs that town" In his mind!" Everyone respects him!" "he knows people" "You don't cross a (name goes in here).. etc.....But can't find anyone to support him with sympathy on the dislike for me! other than a few "followers" that don't even know me and only hear one side. :laughing7::laughing7::laughing7:

Still tries! Even has people call the house from three states away with threats, or hinted at threats. As recent as yesterday. You would think after 20 some years? He'd figure out I'm not going away! And NO ONE is going to be FORCED to bow down to him that lives with me!

Like you limitool? I don't do well with threats or intimidation. Your above post kind of reminded me of the boat thing, A little different but the same Idea, Some people think they can threaten and intimidate, until they meet their match or someone that isn't afraid to go a step further in defense, or what ever you want to call it.

I totally understand.... Good for you and your friends who stood up for you.

NEVER in this guys mind did it enter into it that a low seniority (@ time) little man like me would confront him in the fashion I did. But he (and many others) knew what happened to his old truck. At that point he realized that if I had the nuggets to do that then what would happen next. And he nor his buddies did nothing back because they all figured (rightly) that ole' Dave would catch the fallout if something did at this point. But he was right about one thing.... maybe at "his" plant he was a big fish in a small pond but he left that "pond". I didn't / don't talk a lot when pissed.

Apparently nobody had ever confronted this big loudmouth guy in that fashion. Later, ironically 2 of the guys from Chicago took archery lessons from me at Starlight Archery and we became friends. They confided in me that "Dave" was so mad he was beside himself. They said that's always been his "style" and everybody backed down. They both said that he didn't trust me anymore... why would he?

I told both of them that maybe he learned the difference between a threat and warning. THREAT: Something you might do? WARNING: Something you will do!

Ole' "Dave" had it confused... But he was a quick learner and I'll give him that!

I'd be happy to, it would be a blast and go fast while swapping stories! Sounds like GM and the USPS have much in common when it comes to "management"! or mismanagement more likely!

Oh yea.... do I have some stories! I witnessed a lot of "justice" being dished out while at work. Some was funny and some was brutal.
