HEADLIGHT COVER CLEARING- WHO NEEDS GOOGLE?

hey kids, the clear covers on my headlights have that hazy look
I know there are several types of cleaners for that
anyone have a favorite or a bad one to avoid?

My sister in law had some success with this one, on a Honda CRV. https://www.sylvania.com/en-us/products/automotive/Pages/headlight-restoration-kit.aspx It helped some.... But she is buying new aftermarket lenses, that are better then the stock ones, and updating the bulbs to ultra whites.

I have polished hazy ones with a kit made for them.
They looked /worked good for a while but did haze again in time.
The problem is in the coating(s) used and new ones don't haze like the old ones...depending who does the coating.
I know a guy who does them and that is how he explained it to me. I don't recall the cut-off year that lens's should be expected to be trouble free.
So ,a kit with the polish and the pad for a drill will make them better for a while. Wild guess about twentyfive bucks.
I'm going to replace the entire lens on the vehicle I polished them on several years ago ,as the other has been replaced.
A vehicle I keep trying to fix up for some one ,but is one of those that each time one thing gets squared up ..another needs attending.

I think a hammer would work better. Most toothpaste is too course to do anything but scratch it. Check your parts house for suggestions. they should help you. At the speeds you drive you need lots of light. I'm the old guy poking along in the right hand lane so pass with care.

Sylvania makes an inexpensive one that works well. Just so you know you have to keep up every 6 months or so.

I just use homemade flashlight holders on my outside door rear-view mirrors. Wire the flashlights together to a common switch and bingo.... your good to go. I learned this after I moved to Tennessee and into a rural area....

Mequires makes a good headlight polish kit.
About $20 and comes with a circular sponge attachment to use with a drill to buff them out with.
Caution..... Tape around edges of paint around the headlights first. polish Will not harm the tape, but may mess up your paint.
A couple of minutes each and you're done

Wrong.... Mine are on the door rear-view mirrors guy. Their mounted evenly and I only use high beam LED's. This pic above is some amateur. I'd show pic... but I'm thinking of patenting this idea also. There I go again... thinking.... Thinker doesn't work good sometimes...?

The lens is plastic and has a coating that starts degrading over time. Most polishing kits are actually sanding from coarse to fine and then polish. It lasts 3-4 years then you have to do it again. It takes 6-18 beers depending on how irritable you are that day, because patience is needed.

my 99 has needed it twice, my 03 needs it after about 9 years. Wouldn't it be nice if the lenses were glass again?

Broke my arm pretty badly on a job, been having knee problems too so I've been trying to detect in moderation till I get back up to dangerous levels of ( in )competence.
