Muhammad Ali passed away after a 30 year battle with Parkinson's Disease...
My earliest memories with my Dad are watching Ali rope a dope George Forman...
He was so smooth, so flashy, and so entertaining, the original controversial athlete.

Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee... We all know that, but my favorite line of his?
I'm so mean, I make medicine sick.

....the original controversial athlete.

I'm not sure Jack Johnson or Jackie Robinson - among others - would agree with you there. But I get what you mean :)

Who else would change their religion, convictions, and be stripped of their career, for the belief that war is wrong?
He was hated by many Americans for his beliefs, but the Supreme Court recognized and supported his rights, as an American....

Lets please keep it non political, thread is about ALi as a boxer, not his political or religious views....

In my opinion Ali was the greatest heavyweight boxer, at least in my lifetime and I am 67........

I grew up on Ali. Loved his "interviews" with Cosell. The most memorable and emotional memory of Ali was when he appeared at the top of the platform to light the torch @ the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta. That's one of my personal top 5 sports moments of all time.
